This is a sermon series delivered at our church on Sunday mornings in the Spring and Summer of 2025 that goes verse-by-verse through the New Testament Letter of Jude. The Letter of Jude is often overlooked at the end of the New Testament, but it has much to teach us about how Christians are called to exercise discernment as they serve Christ in the world. Jude sets out to write to believers about their “common salvation,” but is directed by the Holy Spirit to encourage Christians to “contend” for their faith because the world and the Church would be filled with people that would twist and distort the truth to bring destruction on themselves and any who would follow them. In a day of confusion, a watered down gospel message, and churches filled with deception and sin, the short Letter of Jude is a timely message for the Church of Jesus Christ to stand on God’s Word and not be led astray.
Jude 3 – “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”
